Behind the scenes

What was I planning when working for the hand in for the exhibition?
A GUIDE TO EXHIBITIONS – Creative Compass
Well, this blog post is going to cover all of that information :)

I was at first stuck for what to present for the exhibition, for I was still trying to decide if my work was going to be 3D or 2D

But once I had figured out it was going to be 3D, that same day we had to talk about what we planned for the exhibition and be given feedback. That was when I was suggested a Colour Script, as my work is all about colours

I thought this was a great idea, but thought that wasn't enough. So, I thought adding the Character Bios would really make it shine

So over time I was working on the colour script, but getting lost in all the colour (bad pun). I procrastinated and put off doing my work. That was when Lockdown started

The first few weeks I was in a rut. Struggling to get to work and separate my work time to home time. But that was when I got the best advice from Fabri

This was the moment I started to really see what I wanted to do for the exhibition

Also, around this time, I started to follow Character Design References

They, everyday, showcase so many different types of artwork from so many different people. This flooded my brain and gave me so many ideas and inspirations I cannot even recall what inspired me directly

Now inspired, I worked on the Character Sheets (I had created the base plan for 3D modeling, but thought it could be of use)
I felt like I really understood my style choice a lot more now. Now that I sorted all the colours needed, I started the Colour Script (Thumbnails planned and ready at this time)

There is not much for what research I did before going for the colour script, but the advice from Fabri and example of Pixar's Up
Cool Stuff: Lou Romano's Color Script for Pixar's Up – /Film
What they did looked amazing, and will always be an example for me and Colour Scripts I may make in future

I noticed with this example that it is not perfect perfection. It is simple yet beautiful. Colours clearly shown and amazing

So with this under my belt, I went for it. This was my result
I am very proud of myself. I think they look better than I planned

Now with the hard work done, I knew, I needed to present them in a professional matter, with a background

What I created was an amazing accident. I open Photoshop and added, to the brush tool, scattering and hue colour changing per tip

My laptop has a mini glitch when painting the spots and made a really cool feathering effect with huge dots or colour

This is what I made
With the intensity down and a white border, it made a really unique background that really showcases my concept of colour being key to the story

With the background, it was time to make it all pretty
Now, all pretty, I knew I could do more. So, I made a title and logline page
It didn't take long to make, but I was stuck. My reader writer helped me word this, and picked 'Negative and Positive' for the choice of wording. But, my sister suggested I change it as it 'made no sense' so I made 'Colours and Greys'. I was still stuck, both worked fine

I, after some advice, decided that it will be visually shown in an exhibition, so 'Colours and Greys' would fit it better, as I don't really mention 'Negative and Positive' at all

With time spare I quickly made a poster for my short animated film. And, this is what I managed
I am proud of all the work I achieved

Very proud
