Checklist
How to write a paper abstract
Use this checklist to create the abstract for your next journal paper. Follow all steps and your
abstract will meet the requirements of most of the international peer-reviewed journals.
What to keep in mind when writing the abstract:
  • Write the abstract as last section of your paper.
  • Only summarise the paper, avoid introducing new content, don’t hold back with
  • important and relevant content.
  • Write in past tense.
  • Keep your abstract to 150-300 words.
  • Make sure every sentence has a clear purpose.
  • Check specific journal guidelines for abstract requirements.
How to write the abstract:
  • Step 1: Summarise all paper sections and define section headings.
  • Step 2: Summarise Introduction in 1-2 sentences.
  • Step 3: Summarise Methods in 1-2 sentences.
  • Step 4: Summarise Results in 1-2 sentences.
  • Step 5: Summarise Discussion in 1 sentence.
  • Step 6: Repeat the take-home message of your paper in 1 sentence.
  • Step 7: Write simple, clear and short sentences.
  • Step 8: Include the main keywords of your paper in the abstract.
  • Step 9: Include short headings for structured abstracts or reformat the text without
  • headings into one paragraph (informative abstracts).
  • Step 10: Avoid references, sources and abbreviations in the abstract.
I will first write the basic points

Intro
  • How can I, with the use of colour, show the state of mind of a character within a light-hearted short hybrid 2D/3D animation?
  • This is inspired by 'The Amazing World of Gumball, The Faith' with the usage of colour and grey to be able to tell a tale as well as the characters themselves

Body
1
  • Practice-based and practice-led research alongside active documentation via a blog is the methodology utilised in my project. Blogging is the tool I use to both show my progress with my work
  • Blogging can reveal more about the author and who they are and what they want to achieve, whether it be their hopes and dreams or goals. I use my blog to record important milestones, achievements, setbacks and other key events.
2
  • Discord is a useful online platform for my research as it allows me to share content, communicate and get feedback from others about my evolving ideas.
  • I use Discord for many reasons; organisation, content sharing, and communication. The organisation within each chat is a great way of keeping the chats tidy and organised. Also, there are many ways to share content with others, either though voice and/or video chats, screen sharing and image sharing.
3
  • Colour versus black and white is used in my animation ‘The Colours’ to express contrast in the central character’s thoughts and feelings.
  • Amazing World of Gumball – The Faith uses black and white to demonstrate the inner struggles and feelings of character Allen, who had lost his faith in the world. This example is perfect for my own work, as I am using black and white in the same way.
4
  • Colour associations are used to represent the variations in the character’s transition through various emotions.
  • Inside Out is known for this usage of colour theory with feelings, and I plan to use the same techniques of how they show sadness, joy, anger and many other emotions within my own work.
5
  • ‘The Colours’ displays a relationship, where supporting and never giving up on each other is the key for a deeper and more meaningful friendship.
  • To show deeper friendship within my project requires both characters to be loyal, caring, understanding and supportive for each other.
6
  • The negative thoughts within my character's mind impacts their happiness and/or outlook on life.
  • An experiment was done on students with how the teacher acted, and it shows that having a negative point of view impacts how others interact with you. They seem less open and positive themselves, changing life to be less ‘positive/happy’ and more dull or boring.

Conclusion
  • Overall, I use Blogging to record my process and development and Discord to receive feedback and share my content with others.
  • I use 'Amazing World Of Gumball, The Faith' and 'Inside Out' as primary artist models for my ideal outcome/look/feel of my work.
  • Finally, I investigate the depths of what friendship and how thinking/acting in a navigate way can impact your's, and others life

OK. Got feedback :)

Might be a bit too focused on your research methodology, talk about your project and findings maybe?
I didn't see any findings
I'm tired
I don't know if we can use direct references either as we can't APA in this

I think the next step is to take away the bullet points and have it flow smoothly
Sorry if I can't provide very good feedback

Amazing! Thank you Jay :)

Also, when I was helping Jay, I learned something I would need to upgrade myself ;)

No 'I' is allowed
Past tense!!
